For the entire month, you are going to choose one day each week in which you will spend NO money. Not even a cent. No cheating.
Of course, even if you aren’t opening your wallet, you’re still spending on stuff like insurance and utilities (an issue we will address in a future tip). This is all the more reason to cut your spending for a day per week.
Abstaining from spending is a great way to see how much money is spent on things you can live without.
If you’re feeling adventurous, up your spending fast to 2-3 days per week or more and see the incredible results.

We tried to do this for a week once (maybe based on your recommendation), and it’s easier said than done. I caved about three days in thanks to a work emergency for which I needed an 5 hour energy. You might think you know how much you spend, but until you do this, you have no idea.
We’ve done the spending with many people and you’re right – they are gung ho until they get a few days in and realize how hard it is, but even attempting it is a valuable exercise.
