Trusting God’s Provision When Times Are Tough

4047919772_polls_coin_in_god_we_trust_4348_12376_poll_xlarge_xlargeWe talk a lot about trusting God’s provision on this blog, but I realized that I’ve never put together a straight-from-the-source list of verses to read when our financial trust in Him is shaky.

I often try to put God’s promises in my own words and forget that He said it better than I ever could:

Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Philippians 4:19 And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Matthew 6:25, 33 Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

1 Peter 5:6-7 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.

Matthew 6:26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Luke 12:7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.

Luke 12:28 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith!

2 Corinthians 9:8  And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything; you may have an abundance for every good deed;

Romans 8:32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

Deuteronomy 8:18 But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.

James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Psalm 37:4 Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

  1. Thanks, Kevin– praising God for His lovingkindness and constant provision. Your verses were a joy to read and remember… also wanted to tell you that the other day I was looking through my 1981 FBCS yearbook and saw your big smile! Just loved the memory of your funny self at that age, and even more excited about the way God has taken hold of your life and made you into a man after God’s own heart. Keep following Him!! Keep singing His praises!! Your friend, Nanette (Bell) Tucker [?]
